Hot tea

This week I’m making a point of celebrating the little successes in my day. Yesterday was another big one: I took a sick day from work. It’s been 10 years since I couldn’t make it in and that was for a back issue. Moms don’t get sick! Everyone knows that! Well this mom is in fact sick and probably should take today off too but that’s not going to happen. I have a full fledged cold with a fever, runny nose and eyes, and a very sore back. I can’t take any more ibuprofen and I broke down and bought Allegra yesterday in an effort to stop my eyes from itching. I’ve been taking a natural pill called Quercetin to ward off allergies but the inflammation throughout my body is too much and I need it to go away. I feel like a red hot potato about to explode.

On the plus side there’s something to be said for a day off with nothing planned and 70 degree weather. I wrote, read, slept, and spent a significant amount of time out in the sun. In an effort to dry out my sinuses. It seemed to work. I could feel them popping. But once I came back inside I got all stuffy again.

I also did some work related things. It’s hard to get away from that. But it was also very hard to focus.

So yay me! I kept my germs away from the office, I rested, and soon enough I’ll feel better. Hot water, honey, lemon, apple cider vinegar, turmeric, cinnamon stick, repeat...
